I saw this film, but I was not as emotional as others were to this film.
I did not believe in a relationship that Heath and Jake's characters had with each other.
Someone told me that today's young gays and lesbians do not understand fully what it was like to be gay and lesbian during this time. People had to hide their sexual orientation.

it was a nice movie. i loved the emotion - my fave part was when they had the 'realisation' that they could only meet every four years!!! That part just tore me up!, but like aquaryan said - it didnt connect with me that much, which is strange, coz it had all the landmarks of 'my' sorta movie.
Again, Im not saying this movie isnt good - it is a magnificent work of art...and it will touch you. No denying, im just saying that - it may mean different things to different people.
Like ROcky said, it is his favorite movie of 2005. For me, it will and always be Transamerica - now that was a movie with a real emotional kick.
To each his own i guess people.
I still say it shoulda won Best Picture at the Oscar (Brokeback)

HELP ME! Shallowboy likes TRANSAMERICA! I thought that was a great and sad movie. I gave insight into what a transexual goes through as I could never imagine wanting a sex change operation...

dude, ive been preaching the AMAZINGNESS that is Transamerica for ages already now - it is such a great movie, as you put it! And sad and happy all at once. She/he does not have a hard life - but i love how her relationship with her/his son Kevin zegers just completes here life more than any sex change operation! THE BEST MOVIE OF 2005

haha.. Dont correct her! If she says it's looked than it's looked!
anyway, I still dont get why everyone is freakin out about this movie. I honestly dont think it was amazing or anything. I mean they could have pulled off the same story with a straight couple and the movie would not get nearly as much attention. Oh well, if it gives the homosexuals something to be proud of then I'm all for it... Wait, I'm bi..... Okay so, I guess I can appreciate the movie... oh hell, what am I saying... The Island was better!
