I am crazy, not a week goes by where i do not buy a DVD. I think I have a problem. lol. I have probably over 300 already and I can't stop. Is it just me (please I hope not) or are we all such big movie fans that we buy heaps?

You ain't crazy...buying "a dvd" is nothing but being curious...I can tell you it gets worse though...you'll know when you walk into the local store and they know you by name... According to DVDProfiler, I bought my first DVD (finally) 12/05/2004 and I currently own 1,964 (as of 12/20 new release Tuesday) you do the math...I don't even want to get into VHS and Laserdisc or the watched and unwatched piles ...

I've gotten to the point I use file storage boxes for alot of them...it also helps to have more than one tv, dvd and tivo so you can do more than one thing at a time...several splitters and an inline amplifier help too...

Dude We dont get tivo here....and splitters, amplifiers? Ummm Im not that tech savvy!!!! Hehehehe All I know is i just watch a lot of tv and movies!!! I watch most of them while on the treadmill so at least Im watching movies and working out, and not pigging out! It helps with the workout, so i dont focus on the tiredness and pain, plus it makes the session go by much faster!!!! The only downside is that i watch DVDs in pieces - like half hour with todays sessions, half hour with tomorrows session!!! So i watch one movie in pieces on weekdays - and watch full movies on the weekends. Does that make sense!!!! Hehehe Ringworld, can i come over and sift thru your collection and borrow some!? Ill offer you some of mine

Ill offer you some of mine Well, with 5 tv's and all cable get's kinda weak so you have to have an inline signal amplifier... Treadmill is a good idea...I am too lazy for that, but I do manage to keep my weight down to a reasonable level by walking to the corner market for my Pepsi... I usually can't stop in the middle of a movie...when caffeinated one can stay up amazingly late. I do usually catch up on watching from friday night and all day saturday. I have no life...

DVDs are cool......i can just imagine the selection you guys get in the US. We must get only half of the titles that you guys get! Anyway, I dont care if people mock our DVD buying habits......its a hobby, ....well in my case more of a lifestyle. Seriously, if it wasnt for movie watching during my workouts, i dont think id bother to even get of my ass. It sure makes the time go by faster...unless its a bad movie. Trust me, watching a bad movie, while on the treadmill can sure make the workout more torturous! Im kinda thinking of having a garage sale really...i mean, most of the movies i got i wont watch again, its just that.....we are not garage sale people here to be honest. I sure gotta move to america!

Were the same Shallowboy; I've had to resort to importing online a lot. My latest I'm getting is "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" A great movie starring Jodie Foster and Emile Hersch, but suprise no Australian release.
Before DVD for me, I was so much into VHS, and of course I just ended up just giving them to family as I no longer watch anything on VHS; so much money gone. But at least its a good money waste and not spent on smokes or drugs or some bad shit like that.

I import too...once in a while...love region free dvd players... That was a good movie...don't forget Kieran Culkin too and Jake Richardson (Fudge)... They have so many old movies not yet on dvd too...that's annoyng...I still haven't broken down and gotten rid of the Laserdisc collection yet...that will be next...

Hahaha i missed the whole laserdisc phase, got like 5 movies on that format. Good thing i didnt waste time with that. Its like a supersized DVD!!!
Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys was ok! I saw it, but it wasnt that good i guess...just good for eye-candy. Emile Hirsch was cool....Kieren culkin not really for me tho.
I love this time of the year for movies. Oscar season usually brings out a lot of good ones! I really wanna see so many of the Oscar type movies. But movies are sooo slow to come out here. Stuff i wanna watch, but not out here yet - "North Country", "Munich", "Syriana" and so much more i cant even bother to list em out.
I havent tried importing movies tho, coz censorship laws here wont allow personal movie imports! How sucky is that. And they wonder why people steal movies. I dont download movies tho...i mean, connection is too slow, and i have no frikkin idea how to burn DVDs!! Ive tried SO many programs, and they all fail me! So i just give up!

Be glad, I just knew it couldn't last since there wasn't really any copy protection, but I have a bunch... Well, I guess we have it made then...North Country was out in October, Syriana was out Dec 9th and Munich this month and just up the street...you'll be lucky if you get it by April 2006...so, I guess you are stuck waiting... Boy, no imports...I would be in trouble, big trouble...I wonder if the US has any such laws...hmmm

ringworld....can u import me!!!!!!! I needs to move to the US...my movie watchin is so hampered here! We are not so bad here tho, we get BIG movies out the same time as the US (like Kong, Potter, Narnia etc)....its just that smaller movies get lost in the mix. Im a big fan of popcorn movies dont get me wrong, but I do appreciate the smaller oscar type movie as well. Last year had some really good oscar fare...like Maria full of grace, Vera Drake, etc....so im really looking forward to this January season! so ringworld??? when can i come over??

ringworld....can u import me!!!!!!! hehe...for some reason that made me think of a company in Germany that ships all exports without jewel or keep cases... But if you move here you might be disappointed...it's not all like the movies... I think the smaller movies get lost here too...mostly just show at the film festivals then go to dvd...which is alright for me since I hate going to the movies...I always seem to end up spending $20 - $25 everytime I go...ends up being cheaper to buy the dvd and a 2ltr of Pepsi is around $1 and munchables are cheap too...besides you can't pause at the theatre... Well, i'll have to think about it...hehe... boy, these threads are getting long....
