I rented "Mortuary" recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was glad however, that I did not watch the trailer to the film before seeing the film. Assuming the trailer that is a part of the bonus materials on the DVD release is the same trailer that played previously, it gave away nearly everything about the film. An extremely long and spoilerish trailer, in my opinion. Anyway, I rented the film being a fan of Dan Byrd and I was also interested in seeing what Tobe Hooper was up to in terms of directing. I had not seen Rocky before in any films. Out of all the characters, I enjoyed Rocky's and Dan's and in the beginning, the mother's role. They were great and I found them all to be very believable. At first, besides the creepy atmosphere of the funeral home, I felt as though I was watching a drama, getting to know these characters, learning their backgrounds. That's no a bad thing at all as my favorite genre of film is drama. I thought the acting, writing and directing were all very well done and there were a couple of jump scares but overall, I didn't find the film as scary as I thought (hoped) it was going to be. But that's okay because I felt overall, this was a very good film with some very solid acting.

I dont know, I still think it wasnt really.. that great. The story was just kind of... ehhh. But Rocky was great in it.. as well as Dan. But overall I would give the movie.. a C.
