well it wasnt a remake, more a re-boot of sorts....it didnt really seem to fit in with the rest of the series...... AND wanna bet that part 13 will be in 3D? or make it 13D

Hollywood and their reboots. Seriously - they have just agreed to reboot The Fantastic Four already. My god, is there no original thought there that we need to reboot films that are not even five years old. As much as I loved "The Dark Knight" I feel it has made morons out of the people in Hollywood who think they an reboot everything now. *** I watched a good little thriller last night called "Nightmare at the end of the Hall" It was a low budget thriller that was not very scary but it was ok. Just a lot predictable. A plus it did have Kavan Smith from Stargate who is a pretty impressive actor. www.imdb.com/title/tt1149606/

I'm not the only one.. There's just more people who hate it than love it.. But most people hated the movie long before it was even released.

you forgot to mention the success of Star Trek that is getting more people on the 'reboot/remake' bandwagon....but then again, the Star Trek franchise was nearly dead (and ancient) and warranted a reboot....Fantastic Four however, yes, I agree, thats just insane - the last one came out like 2 yrs ago and it was mildly successful....I do agree however that the current Fantasti Four franchise (the Alba, Chris Evans one) is too cartoony and PG for my liking...it should be a bit darker, like the Batman one or even the Spidey ones....!
I am however a general fan or remakes.....not coz they are remakes per se, coz most of the remakes are horror movies, and the more horror movies out there, the better!!!!! I still think that some of the better horror movies of recent times are 'Hills Have Eyes' and 'Last House on the left' - which are remakes! But then again, they could be good coz of Craven!
If u wanna talk further on the ridiculousness of remakes however - the whole 'REC' and 'Quarantine' thing comes to mind. Quarantine was being made BEFORE 'REC' was even released in the US - it was THAT fast! And dont forget the current-in-production remake of 'let the right one in'!

Ugh Quarantine... The ugly twin (yes, one twin can be ugly) brother to REC.
REC was so much scarier and prettier. Also had the better ending.. Like.. the monster was terrifying. But for some reason they changed it's look in Quarantine.
(wont be on for a couple days... Goin to NYC for a concert. Ciao)

have fun mattie I wonder whos playing? bout yr REC/Quarantine observation tho - coulda sworn the endings were mirror-identical....even the monster seemed to look the same....word for word, scene for scene remake....i couldnt tell the difference. I mean, the ending was the same for both....exactly, so i dont see the distinction I have high hopes for REC2 the trailer looked cool!

I have to admit, I am fine with the US (or, at least, English-language) remakes of foreign films, like all the Japanese horrors, etc. I LOVED Quarantine btw! However, I have to say, I was REALLY disappointed with the remake of Psycho from about 10 years ago ... mainly cos it was frame-for-frame identical to the original. If you're going to remake something, you still need to put SOMETHING original in it! What do you guys think about the new Nightmare On Elm Street that they're doing? From what I read, it looks like they're doing something similar to what Rob Zombie did for Halloween, and putting in more of a background as to what happened when Freddie was alive: www.imdb.com/title/tt1179056/

im with you - i watch ALL the remakes....the good, the bad and the ugly. Im not picky....i know theyre universally loathed, but I was fine with the remakes of Halloween, Friday 13th, Prom Night, Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes, Uninvited, Eye etc etc...some of them were rather good, some not so, but still none were truly gow-awful... I even admit to liking the Psycho remake from 10yrs back...i mean i hadnt seen the original (I dont do black-and-white movies)....so it was a pretty cool movie experience for me. Im looking forward to the new Elm Street movie....the original (first one) really creeped me out (well...it did come out when i was a kid!)...so i have high hopes for this remake. Plus if Craven is involved in anything....im there! Im also psyched bout the Scream 4 reboot Now THAT im wetting myself in anticipation for

It's been like.. seven years or so since they've been in the US. Anyway, the endings were a little different. REC's was much creepier. The monster was similar.. But not as scary looking as REC's. I remember being so pissed off.

i remember both 'monsters' at the end, both looked like annorexic blonde chicks hehehe! I wasnt so much pissed off by that, but by the fact that it was like Psycho, almost a scene-for-scene remake....they didnt change much at all. Usually a remake or a reboot is good in which u can see differences, or ADDED gore or violence, but this was pretty much the same..
dude, i thought i knew music, but i aint never heard of Apoptygma Berzerk....!!!! They sound like one of those metal, rock type bands...well going by their name anyways!
Just back from The Final Destination....fun movie...boy.hot.cute.omg.wanna marry him....num num num.....such a hottie....gobble gobble gobble....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Totally kids night last night - I watched Monsters VS Aliens on BR. The quality was sensational, and the movie was ok. Nothing like Shrek were I'd re-watch, but for a one off.
