definitely directing, for sure - i don't like acting that much when i'm acting in my own films, it's mainly because of a lack of others to fill those roles

cool - its true what they say...there are 'actors' and there are 'directors'...you dont usually one who does both well...well apart from Clint Eastwood. I couldnt do either - i am much to shy to be an actor (and i dont have the looks) and i dont hav the patience or authoritativeness to be a directore. Im just happy to be a movie viewer I admire those who hav the ambition to be either tho, coz it takes confidence to do both - so props to u man!

thanks man
yeah, but i think acting's tougher because it requires you to really emerse yourself in your character (if you wanna be a great one like Rocky) i've just never been that interested in acting. i don't mind it, but i prefer working the camera and trying to find really cool techniques to film
the director makes as big an impact on a film as the actors, i believe it's all in how you present the film. you could have all the greatest actors in the world in your movie, but if you execute it terribly, it'll be bad

besides, i'm a real perfectionist and it drives me nuts when even the slightest thing is wrong with something... so that probably explains why i like directing so much

im like that too - im a perfectionist....and Im very competitive.....so if i do something, it has to be good. and better than others....i dont know if its a good thing or a bad thing,,,,
Not that im a sore loser or anything, but even at kids birthday parties, at silly party games...I JUST HAVE TO WIN! even if the prize is some lousy dollar-store item! LOLZ
we dont hav acting/directing opportunities here coz of a literally non existent movie industry.....tho acting work is usually limited to tv work. tho u cant make a living out of it, definitely....! Ill stick to my day job thank you very much - and stick to letting the professionals do their work!

i wonder how much it'd cost to hire Rocky to act in like a 16 minutes short-film... i wouldn't have to worry about being imperfect if Rocky were in my film cuz there couldn't possibly be a flaw. even if i wrote the biggest piece of junk on the planet, the critics would be like, "well, the story was awful and character development was non-existent, but goddammit, it had Rocky Marquette in it! FIVE STARS!"

i wonder how much it'd cost to hire Rocky to act in like a 16 minutes short-film... Don't discount that; a lot of actors are giving there time to Web based shows. Look at www.startreknewvoyages.com/ If you are unaware it is the continuing voyages of Captain Kirks Five Year Mission. Done by fans, and they have had Four original actors in the series, a few of the original writers, make up people ect.. It is becoming extremely popular. Maybe, come up with a good idea, and if he was ever in the area he may help you out. (Crosses fingers for ya) Quickly checked out one of you movies, the Saw one. Quiet funny. Will look at the others soon.

well, im sure rocky would love to help an up and coming director like you rockyfan - plus you seem like such a genuine and major fan, so im sure he would love to help you out man! Tho, im assuming your a Canuck, so you would prob hav to uproot yr production to the US for Rocky. (unless u could convice rocky to get a work permit in canada!)...
Kinda off topic here, but is it just me, or does everyone else see that huge advertising banner for mulsima.com out in the main board. Its SOOOO funny, how they hav random ad.banners on this board.....that picture of the arabic woman has been there for the past week, greeting me each time i log on to this board. Its strange.........

glad to hear you liked the Saw one, nightflyer... it's a fan-favourite, despite taking the least work of any of my films i actually did that one as an assignment for an English course I was taking. we were studying Shakespeare and had to apply one of the motifs in "King Lear", allowed to use any medium through which to convey our project (be it a video game, puppet show, drama skit, film, etc.) so it was a perfect excuse for me to shoot something and i think it turned out pretty well.
and, as for hiring Rocky, obviously i'd love to but i was just kidding. if he's available, my door is always open for him, but i'm not exactly holding my breath...

lol alright man, i'd love to know how much longer i have to go on like this.... people viewing me as some sort of fair-weather, flash-in-the-pan fan... i'm the real deal! i deserve some sort of position higher than 'noob'... like, at least, 'site janitor' or something. ...it's insulting haha
anyway, in other news..... since i think Rocky only reads new threads, i'm tempted to create a new one to ask (...er... beg) him to watch my films. i know he's really busy and everything and i'm really nervous about asking, but it'd make me feel so incredible if he would watch even just one. i guess i'll do it... wish me luck. obviously i'll hope, but i'm not too confident he'll do it. Not cuz he's not a good guy but just cuz he probably has way better things to do with his time. anyway, you'll never know unless you try, right?

dude...dont worry bout being a 'noob'...i mean, you hav lasted SOOOOO much longer than so many of the people here, so its all good. I appreciate you sticking around - i know that most people see this board as really inactive, so they never post and at most write one message and never re-appear ever again. At least you post - and you havent deserted us yet! Your awesome, thanks for being a fan of Rockys!!!! And dude, im sure Rocky will respond to you again - i mean, look, he's responded to you once already..... And if he doesnt, pls dont take it personally - it prob means he hasnt read your message thats all. im definitely sure it wont be intentional!! (and dude...dont be suprised but there are loads of lurkers on this board. I lurk on many a board - you know what i mean right....they just come in here to read the threads...and only contribute when they feel like it. I know Milla is always reading the messages, Leigh as well, and so does Larry....so we are not as alone as the board may show Plus i know Rocky always comes in here....so im sure he knows whats going on!!)
