There's been a slight change in plans. The bad news is, Rocky will not be able to attend the actual screening itself this Saturday.
The good news is, he will be attending the big Gala Award Ceremony on Thursday, June 5. Here are some details:
GALA AWARD CEREMONY When: June 5, 2008 at 7:00 pm Where: Pier A Park, First Street and Sinatra Drive, Hoboken, NJ
One of the Nation’s Hottest Awards Ceremonies, this event features numerous Celebrity Guests and:
* Mingle with the Stars at a Closed, Elegant, Extravaganza Cocktail Hour, with an array of complimentary hors d ’oeuvres provided by The Melting Pot of Hoboken and complimentary Stella Artois beer provided by Anheuser-Busch; * Celebrity Award Presenters including Academy Award and Emmy winners and nominees; * Lifetime Achievement Award Personally Accepted by legendary film star Billy Dee Williams (Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Batman, etc); * New Jersey Professional Leadership Award Personally Accepted by Hoboken Mayor David Roberts * Star Standup Comedian Host Mike Marino, “NJ’s Bad Boy of Comedy” who frequently appears on The Tonight Show * Live Award Presentations to the World’s Leading Independent Filmmakers and Actors * Clips from all Nominated Films in all Categories * All the Excitement and Glamour you see at the Oscars!
I've been told to expect a media advisory shortly with more details about the event, which I'll post here.
I will be attending both the screening on Saturday as well as the Gala Award Ceremony the following Thursday, so I will still be getting together with Rocky.

I just returned from the screening of 1968 Tunnel Rats at the Hoboken Film Festival just outside of New York City. Writer/director/producer Uwe Boll was there to introduce the film.
I'll be posting a more in-depth review as soon as I can. Later in the week I'll be meeting with Rocky. After that I should have an interview and pictures to put up.
Just wanted to stop by now and briefly say how impressed I was with Rocky's performance and the film in general. It's a brutal statement about the horrors of war and pulls no punches. The look is stark and the action is unrelenting. I've never been in battle but I hope the soldiers in the film are realistically depicted. They certainly aren't romanticized a la Apocalypse Now. The ensemble cast does what they need to do -- this isn't really a character-driven piece and the dialogue isn't Hollywood war movie fluff. The story is compelling and what stood out the most for me was the cinematography and powerful visual effects. It's an assault on the senses and has a powerful message.
I'm a stickler for not posting spoilers so I won't get too much into the story or what Rocky's character does in the film. But I can tell you that he has a heck of a lot more screen time than in The Bondage and, unlike several of his films, he plays a good guy. He is the sweet baby-faced kid of the whole crew of soldiers and is arguably the most sympathetic character for that reason. Much of the dialogue was improvised so he has a long convo with one of his buddies about Michigan, which was obviously unscripted.
I know he worked very hard on the film. Boll told me that he put all the actors through a boot camp with actual mercenaries. This wasn't a "Hollywood" boot camp, as he called it, referring to the usual type of training they put actors through before a war movie. He said that they were trained by men who literally had been out killing people just a few days beforehand. I'll post more as soon as I can.

wow, that review sure doesnt make it sound like your typical Uwe Boll movie..... sounds more like a serious drama by a dramatic-director..... I like the sounds of it, tho war movies usually arent my thing - i cant remember the last war movie ive seen - the genre usually isnt the sort of movie that would catch my interest, but for Rocky im wiliing to give it a chance.
So Larry, does this movie have any award chances?? by the sounds of it, it sure has all the ingredients for awards recognition, but i fear that Uwe Boll's name and prior-work might be a large hindrance *sad*..... coz it sure does sound like a very serious movie....and very untypically Uwe-Boll. Cant wait for the pics and intererview!

Cant wait for the pics and intererview! It's definitely a serious drama -- about as serious as you can get. It's quite dark. It's also definitely a war movie, with heavy political undertones. Some of the characters are developed more or less but this isn't a coming-of-age film or family drama couched in a setting of battle. It's about the horrors and futility of war, specifically, set in the jungles of Vietnam. Awards potential is a topic I don't usually like to get into. Most of the films I see are indies and the only ones I'm interested in are the Independent Spirit Awards, and I don't think this falls into those categories. It's a genre film and not a Hollywood movie made for a mass audience.

Nice review Larry, look forward to the movie now, was hesitant due to Uwe Boll directing, (Sorry fans - and Rocky) I've never been a fan of his work; but I always give a new movie a go.

i know what u mean nightflyer...I was like...WHAT?? UWE BOLL....coz everyone knows that Uwe Boll has such a reputation for the movies he makes and the man that he is....but hey, I guess the name alone will bring people to the theatre.....
I do hav high hopes for the movie tho - perhaps a change of direction for Uwe..and perhaps his break out movie AND Rockys as well.....
