Dudes, i finally got round to watching this movie today. FINALLY - been so lookin forward to this since i heard bout it, and i wasnt dissapointed.
Firstly, this was a no-holds barred horror gore fest - definitely an R rated movie. Unlike, Mortuary which was definitely PG rated - this one is all blood, killing, gore and all that other cool stuff!
Two of my main men are in this...Dan Byrd (rocky pal from Mortuary) and Aaron Stanford (my Pryro!, with a beard!)....and seriously, i thought they were just supporting actors, but the whole movie is about Dan and Aaron. Cool suprise there! They just carry the entire movie!
(and the fact that Dan gets his boxers peeking out over his low slung jeans every 5 minutes...well that was just a bonus!)
And Dan somehow ends up looking younger than he did in Mortuary. He looks like hes only 15 in this one....tho im sure he must be 18 at least in real life. I cant beleive its the same little dude from Cinderella Story...he was such a little geek there...now hes still rocking that hot skinny look, but you can tell hes really really tall...really lanky...not complaining
Ive got the original 1977 version downloaded, so i hav to definitely see that as well, just to compare the two. But this was so well done!!!!!!! The director...Alexandra Aje (sp?) - hes the same dude that did High Tension (Haute Tension) = another awesome, really really tense thriller, which i highly recommend, with a killer twist!
Ok, so this wasnt the best movie to watch when i hav the house all to myself for a week and a half. Who wants to bet that ill wake up with nightmares later. Same thing happened when i watched Wrong Turn - watched it when i had the house all alone, and had nightmares!!! (speaking of which Wrong Turn2 comes out next year)
Reminds me a lot of Wrong Turn as well. Which really makes me afraid to EVER go on any road trip down the desert part of America - movies like Wrong Turn, this one, Breakdown, Texas Chainsaw, Jeepers Creepers, House of 1000 corpses...eeek, all make me wanna avoid any non-city part of America!
Still, an awesome awesome movie - from start to finish. No holding back on any sympathies for any of the good guys...its just kill kill kill.....and some really really good tense bits....that Aje director still hasnt dissapointed from what ive seen of his work.
Only dissapointment - MATTIE....you said there was some Aaron Stanford nudity!!!?? Ok, i watched it from start to finish and there wasnt any! Grrrrrrr....you led me on!
(Ok, not into beard, but he was ok looking with it - looked much older with it tho....looked like he was in his 30s, and in x3, he still looked like a teenager). Anyways Mattie, if u wanna see him shirtless, go rent Tadpole...another movie he did in his 20's where he played like a 15yr old. Where he got seduced by Bebe Neuwirth (she gave him a massage!)
Ok..off topic a bit there..
anyways, to all horror fans, if u havent seen this yet...definitely go out and rent it. I know THE gore fest movie of this year was meant to be Eli Roths' Hostel...(which was amazing)...but in terms of gore and 'disturbing-ness' this one got to me more!
Plus, the hottie boy quotient in this one was definitely higher...(Hostel was catered more to the straight-boy!)...
Cant wait for the sequel!!!!
Two thumbs up and a solid 9 outta 10. Rockys boy Dan Byrd has done well!!! Cant wait to see him in more movies!
